Okami HD, Cosmic Star Heroine, Minit, more coming to Nintendo eShop this week
It’s Thursday, so Nintendo has once again revealed more than a dozen new Switch games that’ll make their way to the Nintendo eShop over the next seven days… and that includes three highly-acclaimed titles that originally debuted on other platforms.
First up, Switch owners will be able to download Capcom’s Okami HD beginning today. Players will take control of the sun goddess Amaterasu in this action-adventure, and attempt to restore color to the land of Japan. Also available to download today is Minit, a Zelda-like overhead action game that must be completed in one-minute chunks.
Finally this week, Zeboyd Games will bring their retro-styled sci-fi RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, to the Switch on Tuesday, August 14.

Capcom will release Okami HD for the Switch this Summer
Nintendo Switch owners will soon be able to enjoy Okami HD on the go, as Capcom has announced the remastered re-release will make its way to Nintendo’s newest console this Summer.
Okami’s artistic ambitions will make their way to the Switch with high definition graphics designed for modern HDTVs, as well as two Switch-exclusive control modes. You’ll be able to draw directly on the screen with Touchscreen Painting if you play Okami HD in Handheld Mode. But if you prefer to use your Switch in Tabletop Mode or TV Mode, you’ll be able to use the Joy-Cons to paint the air with Motion-Control Painting…
Originally released in 2006, Okami brought the Japanese sumi-e ink style art to video games, marrying art with action and an epic tale, making it one of the most unique and beautiful video games ever. Okami HD will be available as a digital download for Nintendo Switch this summer.
In the game, players draw brushstrokes on screen with the Celestial Brush to battle opponents or solve puzzles. Unique to Nintendo Switch, Okami HD will offer new functionality for the Celestial Brush, taking advantage of the Nintendo Switch system’s touchscreen and motion-control support to create intuitive new ways to solve puzzles and defeat foes.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Okami HD, Night in the Woods, more added to Xbox Store
One of 2017’s biggest games, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has made its way to the Xbox One this week, and it’s now available to download through the Xbox Games Store. Capcom’s Okami HD joins the 100-player battle royale on the Xbox One this week, and a new generation of players will be able to experience the action-adventure in an (optional) widescreen format with enhanced visuals (including 1080p and 4K resolutions).
Finally today, Infinite Fall’s young adult adventure game, Night in the Woods, will make its way to the Xbox One.

Okami HD, Papers Please, Romancing Saga 2, more coming to PS Store this week
Fresh off this year’s PlayStation Experience, Sony has added a fresh batch of new games to the PlayStation Store.
Leading the pack (yes, that’s a dog joke) is Okami HD, a PS4 re-release of Capcom’s beloved action adventure. Players will once again be able to follow Amaterasu on her quest to defeat Orochi, and the game’s sumi-e ink art style is now available in 4K resolution.
Going slightly smaller is the launch of Lucas Pope’s Papers Please on the Vita. The Communist immigration inspector simulation made a big splash on the PC in 2013, and a portable version is now available for Sony’s handheld.
Finally this week, Square Enix will bring Romancing Saga 2 to the PS4 and Vita on Friday, December 15. The turn-based RPG was originally released for the Super NES in 1993, this new version will include enhanced graphics, as well as a new dungeon, two new character classes, a new “Avalonian Gardens” game system, an additional scenario, and a New Game Plus mode.

New Retail Releases: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Resident Evil 7 Gold, Okami HD, More
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the wildly popular battle royale from PUBG Corporation, will make its way to the Xbox One this week, and Microsoft has teamed up with the developer to sell a special Retail Edition of the game. However, prospective buyers might like to know the box only contains a download code for the game.
Elsewhere on store shelves this week, Capcom will release Resident Evil 7: Biohazard – Gold Edition for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Gold Edition includes the original game, as well as all three downloadable expansions (Banned Footage Vol. 1, Banned Footage Vol. 2, and End of Zoe). The Not A Hero expansion, which stars series mainstay Chris Redfield, will also be available as a free download for all players this week.
Speaking of Capcom, the publisher will also launch Okami HD for the PS4 and Xbox One this week with graphics “enhanced for modern displays.”
Finally, Edmund McMillen (one half of Team Meat) will bring his nwe platformer, The End Is Nigh, to the Switch.
A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)

Rumor: Okami HD is in the works for the PS4 and Xbox One
Okami began life in 2006 as one of the last major releases on the PS2, and has since grown to become one of the most acclaimed video games of all time alongside re-releases on the Wii (in 2008) and PS3 (in 2012). But after talking to apair of retail contacts, Kotaku UK is reporting the game will likely come to the PS4 and Xbox One in December:
The evidence we’ve seen shows that two different European retail chains have recently added Okami HD to their internal upcoming physical releases calendar. Both retail chains are in different parts of the EU, and both list the game as releasing on 12th December 2017. The detail of the physical release is especially interesting, as the 2012 HD release on PS3 was only available as a download in the west (despite the Japanese boxed release featuring multi-region language support).
It’s easy to discount placeholder dates from retailers, but Capcom has shown a particular fondness for remastered re-releases in 2017. The publisher has re-released Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and Mega Man 7-10 on new platforms this year, with Dragon’s Dogma and Resident Evil Revelations still to come. I have no trouble believing an Okami HD re-release is also in the works.
