Pokemon Black 2/White 2 Review: Nothing Evolving Here
Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 are follow-ups to Pokemon Black and White from 2011, which I was less than impressed with. These sequels are more like rehashes – set in the same area with many of the exact same characters (who reference the previous games a lot), there’s not much at all that has changed. Sure, there are new Pokemon, and you play as a new trainer, but your starting Pokemon are the same three options, and just about every aspect of the game is the same save a few small changes. So should you bother to get this game? (more…)
NBA 2K13 slams it home as the bestselling game of October 2012
The NPD Group has released their report on the bestselling games of October 2012 and NBA 2K13 has come out on top. The basketball sim’s lack of competition from the now-canceled NBA Live 13 surely pushed it to greater heights and enabled it to hold off other October releases like Resident Evil 6 (#2), Pokemon Black 2 (#3), Dishonored (#4), and Pokemon White 2 (#5).
New releases performed very well in October as Medal of Honor: Warfighter (#8) and Skylanders Giants (#10) also cracked the top ten even though game sales dropped 25% from October 2011. Of course, things like that happen when you’re competing with the one-two punch of Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City.
The full top ten for October 2012 can be found after the break. (more…)
Purchase Pokemon Black 2/White 2 before November 12, get Genesect for free
Nintendo has announced that early purchasers of Pokemon Black 2 or Pokemon White 2 will be able to download the Mythical Pokemon Genesect using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be released for the DS on October 7, and everyone who purchases the game by November 12 will receive the Mythical Pokemon Genesect:
Genesect, the newly discovered Mythical Pokémon, has been restored from a 300-million-year-old fossil. Modified by Team Plasma, this Pokémon has a signature move called Techno Blast. Genesect is the only known Pokémon with this move. Genesect is a Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon with the ability to adjust its power levels based on the foe it’s battling.
“This limited-time distribution will get players off to a great start with what is sure to be one of 2012’s biggest games,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
Pokemon Black 2/White 2 to be released on October 7
The DS still has one big game (OK, technically two) left in it as Nintendo plans to release Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 this Fall. Today, the publisher confirmed that the games will be available in stores on October 7.
Nintendo also announced they’ll be adding Pokemon Dream Radar, an augmented reality game where Pokemon invade your house, to the 3DS eShop on the same day. Several hard-to-find Pokemon caught in Pokemon Dream Radar can even be transferred to Pokemon Black 2/White 2.
“Fans will want to count the days until October 7, when they’ll not only get to play the successor to one of the biggest Pokemon adventures ever, but also expand their Pokemon experience to the Nintendo 3DS with Pokemon Dream Radar,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “No matter whether people are playing on Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS, they’ll be getting an incredible Pokemon experience that expands upon the beloved Pokemon Black Version and Pokemon White Version games.”
It’s Pokemadness!
This is the first Pokemon Black 2/White 2 trailer in English
Are you a Pokemaniac? Then prepare yourself for the first English language teaser trailer for Pokemon Black 2/Pokemon White 2. Both games will be available this Fall for the DS.
Of course, if you can read Japanese (and don’t mind importing), Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be available in Japan this weekend.
Nintendo bringing two new Pokemon games to 3DS eShop this year
In an effort to help enhance people’s experience when playing Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2 on the 3DS, which was developed for the DS family of systems, and can only be played in 2D, Nintendo has announced two companion titles that can be downloaded from the 3DS eShop this Autumn.
Pokémon Dream Radar allows players to discover and catch hidden Pokémon using the Nintendo 3DS camera, motion control, and augmented reality technology. Pokémon caught in this way can be transferred into Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. Pokémon Dream Radar includes some hard to get Pokémon, so downloading this title can help you build your roster.
Pokédex 3D Pro includes detailed information about all of the Pokémon featured in the history of the series, tools for sorting, comparison, and ranking, and details on what abilities each Pokémon can learn and how it evolves. All Pokémon are unlocked from the start, and you can take photos of Pokémon in the real world using the 3DS camera.
For more information about any of these games, visit the official Pokémon website.
US gets Pokemon Black/White 2 this Fall too
As expected, Nintendo of America has announced that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be released this Fall. So if you’re keeping track at home, that means Japan will get the pair of DS games this June, followed by a European/North American release a few months later in the Fall.
According to Nintendo, “more game details will be announced throughout the year,” so I think this is the last we’ll be hearing about Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 for a while.
Pokemon Black/White 2 coming to Europe this Fall
One day after announcing that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will be available this June for Japanese audiences, Nintendo has revealed it’ll be released this Fall in Europe. That means only three to six months will pass between the Japanese and western releases of the DS game, a new record for a Pokemon title.
I’m sure Nintendo will announce a similar American release window for Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 later today.
