Xbox Store Today: Battlefield Hardline, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Fruit Ninja Kinect 2, more
Big franchises rule the day in this week’s Xbox Games Store update.
EA is bringing back the Battlefield franchise this week with Battlefield Hardline, which is now available to download for the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Since they’re busy working on a proper Battlefield 5, DICE tagged in Visceral Games for this installment, which focuses on the eternal battle between cops and criminals.
Also available this week is Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, an Xbox One remake of a PSP game that was originally released only in Japan back in 2011. As if that weren’t incentive enough to try it out, Square Enix has also packed the game with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XV.
If you’re into episodic gaming, Capcom has released Metamorphosis, the final chapter in the Resident Evil Revelations 2 saga, while Telltale has countered with the second episode of Tales From the Borderlands, Atlas Mugged. Both games will be available for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Finally this week, you can wave your hands in the air like you just do not care as you play Fruit Ninja Kinect 2 on the Xbox One. How do you like them apples? Which aren’t going to cut themselves, after all.
More information on all of these games can be found after the break and a complete rundown of this week’s Xbox Live Gold discounts can be found at Major Nelson’s blog. (more…)
Battlefield Hardline, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Jamestown+, more added to PS Store
Are you ready to play cops and robbers? I hope so, because EA’s Battlefield Hardline is now available to download through the PlayStation Store for the PS4 and PS3. Developed by Visceral Games, Hardline moves away from international conflicts and instead depicts the ongoing war between criminals and cops.
Also available this week is Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, an action RPG from Square Enix that is making its PS4 debut more than three years after it first appeared on the PSP. But in all that time it never made its way across the Pacific, so Final Fantasy fans definitely have something to celebrate. But those fans also have another reason to be happy about Type-0… it comes packaged with a playable demo of Final Fantasy XV.
Jamestown+, a PS4 shooter that takes place on a “17th-century steampunk Mars,” is this week’s Spring Fever selection. And over on the PS3, NIS America has added the roguelike RPG The Awakened Fate Ultimatum to the PS3 side of the PlayStation Store.
Finally, we have to talk about new entries from two episodic games. This week marks the end of Resident Evil Revelations 2‘s episodic release. Episode 4, Metamorphosis, is now available on the PS4 and PS3. But Telltale’s Tales From the Borderlands is still ramping up as Episode 2, Atlas Mugged, was also released for the PS4 and PS3.
More information about all of these games (as well as a few others) can be found after the break. And a complete rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
New Releases: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Mario Party 10, Battlefield Hardline, More
If you don’t count Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (and I don’t think I do), Square Enix will bring the Final Fantasy series to the PS4 and Xbox One for the first time this week with Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. The action RPG was first released for the PSP in 2011, but it never escaped Japan. Now available in English for the first time, the game will also include access to a playable demo of Final Fantasy XV.
In another first this week, Nintendo’s Mario Party 10 is the first Mario Party game available for the Wii U. The popular party game will also bring with it a new wave of Amiibo figures, so I hope you’re prepared for the thrill of the chase. And speaking of chases, Visceral Games will release their cops-and-robbers action game Battlefield Hardline this week. The game will be released for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Finally this week, Capcom will collect their episodic game, Resident Evil Revelations 2, into a retail release for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
A complete list of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
Xbox Store Today: Ori and the Blind Forest, DMC Definitive Edition, RE Revelations 2 Ep3
Three new games have been added to the Xbox Games Store today including a hand-painted new “Metroidvania,” an enhanced re-release of a decisive Xbox 360 favorite, and the third episode of Capcom’s first episodic project (I think it’s their first, please correct me if I’m wrong).
Ori and the Blind Forest, “a visually stunning action-platformer,” is the debut title from Moon Studios. The game tells the story of a creature that has been tasked with saving the very forest itself by the missing Spirit Tree. The game is completely hand-painted and is now available on the Xbox One.
Less serene are this week’s offerings from Capcom. The publisher has added two new games to the Xbox Games Store including DMC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition, an Xbox One remake of the Ninja Theory-developed reimagining of the franchise; and Resident Evil Revelations 2: Judgment (Xbox 360, Xbox One), the third episode of the second entry in the Resident Evil Revelations sub-series.
More details about all three games can be found after the break. (more…)
Hotline Miami 2, DMC: Definitive Edition, RE Revelations 2 Ep3, more added to PS Store
The devil is in the details in this week’s PlayStation Store update. First up, the devil you know is DMC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition, which has been prettied up and remade for the PS4 by Capcom and Ninja Theory. Capcom got a lot of flak for giving DMC to an outside development team, but this re-release shows the publisher thinks the gaming community might have turned around on it in the last few years.
This week’s devil you don’t know is Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Dennaton’s sequel to their 2012 top-down shooter. Everything in Hotline Miami 2 is bigger than its predecessor and it will mark the end of the Hotline Miami “Saga.” Hotline Miami 2 is part of Song’s Spring Fever promotion and it’s a Cross-Buy game on the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. A slightly less distressing top-down game, the cute and cuddly Scram Kitty DX, is also available as a Cross-Buy game on the PS4 and PS Vita.
Finally this week, the third episode of Capcom’s Resident Evil Revelations 2 project, Judgment, is available to download on the PS3 and PS4. This time, “Claire and Moira search for a way into the Overseer’s tower.”
More details about these games (and a few more new releases) can be found after the break. A full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
Xbox Store Today: ScreamRide, Resident Evil Revelations 2: Episode 2, Shiftlings
Are you ready to scream your head off this week? I hope so, as Microsoft and Frontier Developments have added ScreamRide to the Xbox Games Store on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360. This coaster creator comes from the same team responsible for RollerCoaster Tycoon and Thrillville, so there’s definitely going to be more to ScreamRide than a bored teenager pulling a lever and asking you to keep your arms and legs inside the car at all time.
Also available this week is the Xbox One and Xbox 360 launch of “Contemplation,” the second episode from Resident Evil Revelations 2. Capcom has plans to complete this chapter of the Resident Evil saga in a timely manner as the remaining two episodes should launch next week and the week after, respectively.
Finally this week, Sierra will add the Xbox One game Shiftlings to the Xbox Games Store. Shiftlings is a colorful platformer that stars a pair of space janitors who are attempting to fix all the broken gadgetry in the universe.
More information on all of this week’s new releases can be found after the break. (more…)
PS Store Today: Helldivers, RE Revelations 2: Episode 2, Zombie Army Trilogy, more
Sony kicks off their eight-week Spring Fever promotion with Helldivers, a top-down shooter set in a dystopian future where players are tasked with defending mankind from a horde of alien invaders. It sounds like a good time will be had by all. And I do mean all, Helldivers is a Cross-Buy title compatible with the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.
Also available this week is the PS3 and PS4 launch of “Contemplation,” the second episode from Resident Evil Revelations 2. Capcom has plans to complete this chapter of the Resident Evil saga in a timely manner as the remaining two episodes should launch next week and the week after, respectively. If Resident Evil doesn’t have enough zombie Nazis for your taste, then prepare to square off against undead Hitler in Rebellion’s Zombie Army Trilogy, which will also be released for the PS4 this week. Even more horror can be found in the noirish White Night, which is a survival horror game that’s rendered completely in black and white.
Something slightly less horrifying will be available for PS4 and Vita owners as OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood will take the side-scrolling skater off the streets and onto the set of a blockbuster film. Can you skate on top of the Olliwood sign? Yes, yes you can. Finally this week, La-Mulana EX will make Vita owners very happy as the cave exploration title will appear on Sony’s handheld in its most complete edition yet.
More details about these games (and a few more new releases) can be found after the break. A full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
Xbox Store Today: RE Revelations 2, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires
If you’ve already perused this week’s PlayStation Store update, you’ll be pretty familiar with what Microsoft has added to the Xbox Games Store.
The first episode of Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Xbox One, Xbox 360), “Penal Colony,” puts Claire Redfield back in the spotlight as she attempts to escape from a mysterious island with the help of Moira Burton. It’s joined by Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Xbox One, Xbox 360), which is the latest Dragon Ball adaptation from Bandai Namco. Also available today is Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires (Xbox One), the latest game from Koei Tecmo in the strategic “Empires” sub-series.
More details on all of these games can be found after the break. (more…)
