A trio of hard rock songs from the first half of the decade are now available to download through the Rock Band Music Store including “Like A Stone,” which appeared on Audioslave’s debut album; “Awake,” the title track from Godsmack’s second album; and “Lying From You,” a song from Linkin Park’s album Meteora.

Harmonix has a “Lust For Life” for this week’s Rock Band 4 DLC Update
Harmonix has taken the stage to announce this week’s DLC Update for Rock Band 4, and its another trio of songs that should be familiar to fans of classic rock.
The highlight of this week’s update is clearly Iggy Pop’s “Lust For Life.” The song, which was co-written by David Bowie, pushed Iggy into the spotlight for the first time. Also available this week is “Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)” from The Hollies and “Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)” from Robert Palmer. As always, each song can be purchased for $1.99 apiece.
Harmonix also announced that a new version update for Rock Band 4 will be available today that will “introduce some new features, broaden legacy instrument support, and address various other issues.” The full list of new features and bug fixes can be found at the developer’s official website.

Mad Catz also wants the world to know that pre-orders for the Rock Band 4 Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit are now open. Expected to be available before the end of the year, the Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit will add Crash, Ride, and Hi-Hat cymbals to the Wireless Drum Kit. After attaching the Pro-Cymbals Expansion Kit, players will be able to unlock Pro Mode in the game, which will enhance Rock Band 4’s “realism” and allow players to showcase their “unique flair.”

Xbox Store Today: Rock Band 4, Transformers Devastation, Elite Dangerous, more
This week’s Xbox Games Store update is all about metal. Watch, I’ll show you…
After leaving the stage empty for the last five years, Harmonix has roared back with an encore for the famed Rock Band franchise. Rock Band 4 is now available to download for the Xbox One, provided that you’ve got a few plastic instruments lying around and you remember to purchase the required adapter.
Also available this week is Transformers: Devastation, a new action game from Platinum Games starring robots who are “more than meets the eye.” The gleaming metal designs of the game’s cel-shaded protagonists are based on the 1980s Generation 1 era… which is a first for Transformers games in North America. Transformers: Devastation is available for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
Our last example of new metal on the Xbox Games Store is Elite: Dangerous, which has exited its “Preview” period and is now available as a full game for the Xbox One. Players start by spending a few credits on a small starship and then parlaying that small hunk of metal into a galaxy-spanning armada.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. (more…)
PS Store Today: Uncharted Collection (Friday), Rock Band 4, Transformers Devastation, more
Nathan Drake is back this week as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be available to download through the PlayStation Store on Friday, October 9. The Nathan Drake Collection will mark the PS4 of the first three Uncharted games (Drake’s Fortune, Among Thieves, and Drake’s Deception) and all players who purchase it will receive access to the beta for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Several other big releases are now available as part of this week’s PlayStation Store update and they’re available today:
- Get out your old plastic instruments… Rock Band 4 (PS4) is the first new entry in the franchise in five years. Harmonix didn’t stray too far from the familiar Rock Band 4 in the jump to the PS4, even ensuring backwards compatibility with your old instruments and a vast majority of downloadable songs.
- Transformers: Devastation (PS4, PS3) is a Transformers-themed brawler from Platinum Games that is… wait for it… based on the original Generation 1 era. Believe it or not, Devastation is the first G1 game to ever be released in North America.
- Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance (PS4) is the latest strategy RPG from NIS America and the first entry in the series to be available for the PS4.
- Finally this week, Super Meat Boy (PS4 + PS Vita Cross-Buy) makes his PlayStation debut as the titular character’s ultra-hard platformer is now available for the PS4 and Vita.
More information on all of these games (and a few other new releases) can be found after the break. And, as always, a complete rundown of this week’s discounts and new game add-ons can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
New Releases: Rock Band 4, Uncharted Collection, Transformers Devastation, More
It’s time to rock the world once more as Harmonix will release Rock Band 4 for the PS4 and Xbox One this week. In addition to the standard “Game Only” edition, the developer is also planning to replenish your stock of plastic instruments with a Rock Band 4: Guitar Bundle and a Band-In-A-Box Bundle.
Another big franchise that we’ll remember for centuries is coming back this week thanks to Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on the PS4. Also available as part of a 500GB PS4 + Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Bundle, the collection brings together Drake’s first three adventures and also includes an access code for the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End beta.
And speaking of characters that have been popular for centuries, Activision and Platinum have teamed up to produce Transformers: Devastation, a cel-shaded action game based on the franchise’s “Generation 1” era. It looks gorgeous and it’ll be available for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
Finally, somebody told me that people love Nintendo’s adorable Chibi-Robo and NIS America’s Disgaea series of strategy RPGs. Fans are in luck this week, as new entries in both franchises are set to be released this week. Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash is a side-scrolling platformer for the 3DS, while Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance brings the series to the PS4 for the first time.
A complete list of this week’s new releases is available after the break. (more…)
