Nier: Automata’s 2B will soon join Soul Calibur VI as a playable character
Bandai Namco has announced that Nier: Automata‘s black-clad android, 2B, will soon join Soul Calibur VI as a playable character. We don’t know exactly when she’ll be added to the game, but the new trailer embedded above gives us a good look at her fighting style:
2B wields two swords, Virtuous Contract and Virtuous Treaty. Both have been carefully tuned for maximum efficiency in the hands of a YoRHa android. Her fighting technique is specially designed for combat against machine lifeforms, employing acrobatic leaps and mid-air slashes, lightning-fast evasions and perfectly coordinated strikes.
2B will be a playable fighter in Versus mode, Arcade mode, and Online matches. 2B will also come with her own stage and background music.
Once Bandai Namco adds 2B to Soul Calibur VI, she’ll also come with an alternate costume, alternate weapons, and “Extra Parts & Stickers” to further customize the character’s appearance.

The soul still burns…
Bandai Namco has announced that Soul Calibur VI will bring its tale of souls and swords to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 19. They also used this year’s E3 Expo to unveil a Story Trailer for the game, as well as a brand new character named GrØh:
Taking place in the 16th century, Soul Calibur VI sets players on a voyage of discovery as they uncover events from the original Soul Calibur to learn hidden truths. The game will also feature a diverse line-up of new and returning characters with their unique fighting styles and weapons including series mainstays; Mitsurugi and Sophitia and newcomers such as special guest-character, Geralt of Rivia, from CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series and [a new character named] GrØh, who was recently announced.
In addition to the new trailer, Bandai Namco also revealed the first details of Soul Calibur VI’s two special editions, both of which will be available for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Deluxe Edition ($99.99) will feature a Metal Case with a built-in Soundbox, a Soundtrack CD, and the Season Pass. Geralt of Rivia officially joins the fight in Soul Calibur VI
Bandai Namco has announced that Geralt of Rivia, the “White Wolf” from The Witcher franchise, will join Soul Calibur VI. In addition to the brand new trailer embedded above, Dalton Link, the publisher’s Community Manager, teased Geralt’s inclusion in Soul Calibur VI on the PlayStation Blog this morning:
Wielding his signature steel and silver swords, Geralt is prepared to take on any opponent (man or monster) who dares cross his path. Both witcher swords are made of the finest quality alloys and precisely crafted to suit the needs of their wielder. While we don’t yet know why Geralt has entered another dimension, he was able to bring his weapons with him on the journey. The world he now finds himself in is filled with new foes and plenty of opportunities to fight!
On top of his swords, Geralt enters the ring armed with powerful Signs. From Aard to Igni, Geralt has the ability to unleash the devastating effects of Signs during one-on-one combat. Each Sign provides a different strategic opportunity to best your opponent or start powerful combos.
The Soul Calibur series famously started the guest character trend back in 2003 with the inclusion of Heihachi Mishima, Spawn, and Link in Soul Calibur II. A trio of Star Wars characters (Yoda, Darth Vader, and Starkiller) invaded Soul Calibur IV in 2008. And Ezio Auditore brought his Assassin’s skills to Soul Calibur V in 2012.
Soul Calibur VI will be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018.
Soul Calibur VI will be released for PC, PS4, Xbox One in 2018
Soul Calibur, Bandai Namco’s other fighting franchise, will prove that the soul still burns with a new entry in 2018. Soul Calibur VI was announced during last night’s Game Awards, and it’ll be released for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime next year.
In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with an epic Announcement Trailer starring Mitsurugi and Sophitia:
The Soul Calibur franchise has been the premier 3D weapon-based fighting series since the original Soul Blade released in arcades in 1995. Soul Calibur VI retains the series’ signature 8-Way Run movement system, providing super smooth 3D movement, while integrating new gameplay systems such as the exciting Reversal Edge. Reversal Edge enables characters to clash against each other and follow-up with powerful counterattacks based on their opponent’s actions. Challenge the computer AI, compete against friends, or challenge fighters from around the world in high-speed dynamic battles with jaw-dropping visual effects.
Taking place in the 16th century, revisit the events of the original Soul Calibur to uncover hidden truths with a diverse lineup of new and returning characters with their unique fighting styles including series mainstays: Mitsurugi and Sophitia.
