All Articles: Super Smash Bros. For 3DS
Gonna Fly Now! Little Mac joins Super Smash Bros. 4
After taking out Mike Tyson, putting Mr. Dream to sleep, bashing Nick Bruiser, and saying night-night to Mr. Sandman, Little Mac has made quite the name for himself in the World Video Boxing Association. Naturally, he needs a new challenge, so he’s gonna fly now to Super Smash Bros. 4 for the 3DS and Wii U.
Super Smash Bros. 4 still doesn’t have a release date, but with the inclusion of Little Mac (and Mega Man), it now has my pre-order money.
Sonic the Hedgehog, Toon Link join Super Smash Bros. 4
Nintendo has added two new characters to Super Smash Bros. 4 on the 3DS and Wii U and they’re sure to make fans very happy.
First up is Toon Link, the cel-shaded version of Link that was previously seen in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Toon Link will wield his sword, a bow, and the Wind Waker wand as he does battle with the rest of Smash Bros. 4’s combatants (including regular Link).
But the big news is that Sonic the Hedgehog will be back for a second round of smashing in Super Smash Bros. 4. The blue speedster’s Spin Dash will make a powerful and makes Sonic a natural rival with Samus Aran and her Morph Ball.
New screenshots of both characters (Toon Link and Sonic the Hedgehog) can be found at the official Smash Bros. site.
Princess Peach joins Super Smash Bros. 4
A New Challenger Approaches!
Nintendo updated the official Super Smash Bros. 4 website this morning, revealing Princess Peach as the next challenger to approach the game’s roster. The publisher also uploaded ten new screenshots to the site, which show Peach delivering the smash to Pit, Star Fox, and Mario on the 3DS and Wii U.
Super Smash Bros. 4 will be released in 2014.
Reggie Fils-Aime on Super Smash Bros. 4 petition: “My body is ready”
Leave it to Jimmy Fallon to get to get Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime to comment on fan petition requesting his inclusion in Super Smash Bros. 4. Late Night‘s resident game fan pelted Fils-Aime with a few Twitter questions from fans and after talk about third parties on the Wii U and how Reggie goes to bed every night dreaming of Link, we got to the big one: “What are the chance we may see you as an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U?”
Fils-Aime very diplomatically stated that the final decision is up to Masahiro Sakurai, the game’s Director. But he followed it up by saying, “If he wants, my body is ready.” Any fan of the man knows that this is a callback to his famous declaration before stepping on a Wii Balance Board for the first time at E3 2007.
It’s also the perfect answer to that question.
Fan petition wants Reggie Fils-Aime as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4
Here’s something fun for your Sunday afternoon. A group of petitioners on Change.org want Nintendo to add Reggie Fils-Aime to Super Smash Bros. 4 as a playable character. Fils-Aime is Nintendo of America’s hulking President and is affectionately referred to as “The Regginator” by fans.
The petition was created for the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, who has stated that several new characters will find their way into the upcoming Wii U and 3DS game. So far, Sakurai has confirmed that a villager from Animal Crossing, a Wii Fit trainer, and Mega Man will be added to the fighting franchise’s roster. I’ve got to admit, including Reggie in a Smash Bros. game sounds pretty perfect. After all, the man introduced himself to the gaming press at E3 2004 with one of the greatest lines ever: “My name is Reggie. I’m about kickin’ ass, I’m about takin’ names, and we’re about makin’ games.”
The petition is currently sitting at 4,232 supporters. It may not be enough to convince Nintendo to include Fils-Aime as a playable character in a Smash Bros. game, but maybe he can be included in some other way.
First Super Smash Bros. 4 trailer is double the fun
Have you watched the first trailer for Super Smash Bros. 4 yet? If not, I highly recommend it as the series looks beautiful in high definition. And, if it’s possible, the cel-shaded 3DS version looks even more stylish.
Sadly, the trailer above cuts off before the EPIC Mega Man reveal, but you can see the Blue Bomber deliver a smackdown on the entire Nintendo stable in the complete Nintendo Direct video (the link is cued up at 36:30 for maximum Mega Man).
Nintendo @ E3 13: Super Smash Bros. 4 looks amazing, includes Mega Man
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata gave us our first look at Super Smash Bros. 4 and it’s definitely coming along nicely. The game’s got a great cel-shaded look on the 3DS and a modern, high definition sheen on the Wii U.
Confirmed characters for the next Smash Bros. game include Mario, Link, Samus Aran, Kirby, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Bowser, a Villager from Animal Crossing, and… Mega Man! Oh, yes! Classic NES-style Mega Man will join the fight when Super Smash Bros. 4 is released in 2014.
We’ll see Super Smash Bros. 4 for the first time at E3 2013
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has announced that development on Super Smash Bros. 4 for the 3DS and Wii U is going well. But he also said that Director Masahiro Sakurai needs a little more time before he’s comfortable showing the game to the public. But we won’t have to wait very long to get our first glimpse of the smashing.
Iwata confirmed that the first screenshots and details from Super Smash Bros. 4 will be available at this year’s E3 Expo. Without confirmation of a playable demo, it’s unlikely that Super Smash Bros. 4 will make its way into stores this year. But we’re one step closer at least.
