Tearaway release date tears away into November
Media Molecule has announced that Tearaway, their Vita-exclusive platformer, won’t be available on October 22. The game, set in a world created in a papercraft sty;e, will now be released on November 22.
According to Rex Crowle, Media Molecule’s Creative Lead (via the PlayStation Blog), the Tearaway team just needs a little more time to polish the game up and to “tie all of the mechanics, story and amazing visuals together into the adventure that we want you to play.”
But Crowle is confirdent that they can do it and also said: “Here at Media Molecule we love to make new things on new platforms. To us, making games is a real labor of love. Our very blood, sweat and tears are poured into every pixel, every line of code, every note in every song, and every little post it note we use to plan our lives.”
We’ll find out for sure on November 22.
TitanFall wins “Best of Show” at E3 2013 Game Critics Awards
Respawn’s TitanFall is a big winner in this year’s E3 2013 Game Critics Awards. The mech shooter, which will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in Spring 2014, won all six awards it was nominated for, including the coveted “Best of Show” award.
TitanFall was the only game to win in multiple categories this year, but Watch Dogs (“Best Action/Adventure Game”), Tearaway (“Best Handheld/Mobile Game”), The Elder Scrolls Online (“Best Role Playing Game”), and a few others split the nine remaining awards. And a virtual high five to the developers at Supergiant Games for Transistor, which was selected as the “Best Downloadable Game.” We liked it quite a bit at PAX East 2013 too.
You can find the complete list of selections from this year’s Game Critics Awards after the break. (more…)
Tearaway enters the PS Vita fold on October 22
Media Molecule has revealed the boxart and release date for their upcoming PlayStation Vita title Tearaway. Tearaway will hit shelves on October 22, it will also come with a reversible cover that shows Iota and Atoi on either side.
Players will control one of two messenger buddies around the vibrant, papery worlds, allowing them to poke holes in the terrain, unfold bridges, blow things around, and paint the local wildlife in whatever color they feel.
Media Molecule’s Community Manager, James Spafford, told the PlayStation Blog more about the game, saying: “You’ll uncover a magical dimension inspired by folklore, and built realistically from paper that unfolds and comes alive before your very eyes. As you explore this world you’ll meet the papercraft creatures that live within it, help out strange new friends and encounter dangerous challenges.”
Rex Crowle, the Lead Designer on Tearaway, spoke a bit about the title in a video interview that also shows off a lot of Tearaway’s gameplay. You can find it after the break. (more…)
LittleBigPlanet creator announces Tearaway
Media Molecule is at it again! They’ve been working on an amazing PlayStation Vita game, Tearaway, in which you play as a character named Iota living in a whimsical paper world. He’s on a mission to deliver a special message to you, the player. In fact, his cute little head is an envelope! There’s a stamp and everything. Check out the announcement trailer above for all the cuteness, as well as MM’s uncanny ability to choose the perfect music for all of their videos, ever.
You’re basically a god to this paper world – you can “poke” your fingers up through the back of the Vita to fight enemies and solve puzzles. You can also blow into the microphone to cause gusts of wind, or shout into it to make Iota give a mighty roar. You can even take pictures of stuff in your real life environment to make skins for creatures in the game. Oh, and you can make that elk in real life, too. Just download this papercraft model!
For more information on this cute and quirky game, check out the PlayStation Blog, go to the game’s official site, and/or like it on Facebook.
