AC: Unity, AC: Rogue, Lego Batman 3, PES 2015, many more added to PS Store
It’s another big week for the PlayStation Store. These words could probably be etched to the top of this column every week and still be true, but today that sentence is especially apt as Ubisoft, WB Games, and Konami added a bunch of eagerly anticipated titles to Sony’s digital storefront alongside a passel of big indies.
Ubisoft leads the way with a double shot of their famed Assassin’s Creed series. The franchise’s first next-generation exclusive, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, takes the action to Paris and is now available to download for the PS4. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue for the PS3 closes out the “Americas” saga and allows players to play as a Templar for the first time. Also available this week is WB Games’ Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. The latest Lego title from TT Games blasts Batman into outer space on the PS4, PS3, and Vita. And Konami’s contribution to this week’s PlayStation Store update is Pro Evoltuon Soccer 2015 (PS4, PS3), the latest game in the soccer simulation series.
Finally this week, Bandai Namco released Tales of Hearts R, a new action RPG in the long-running Tales series, for the Vita. It was joined by a pair of indie favorites: Vblank’s overhead actioner Retro City Rampage DX (Cross-Buy on the PS4, PS3, and Vita) and side-scrolling world-builder Terraria (PS4, but includes Cross-Buy access to the previously released Vita version).
More information about all of these games can be found after the break and a full rundown of this week’s new game add-ons and discounts can be found at the PlayStation Blog. (more…)
PS Store Today: Minecraft PS3, Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 1, Flow PS4/Vita, a lot more
It’s a big day for the PlayStation Store as several well-received games have found homes on new platforms and one of this Winter’s biggest releases is now available.
For all you PS3 owners who are jealous of your Xbox 360 brethren and their embrace of Minecraft-mania, the wait is finally over, Mojang and 4J Studios have gotten together and added Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition to the PlayStation Store. Also available today is Telltale’s continuation of their heartwrenching Walking Dead adaptation. Like the first season, The Walking Dead: Season 2 will be released in five parts. The first episode, “All That Remains,” can be downloaded now.
What else is available today? Well…
- Flow, thatgamecompany’s first game, is now available on the Vita and PS4.
- Speaking of the PS4, The Pinball Arcade has also flippered its way onto Sony’s next-generation console.
- Terraria, everyone’s other favorite sandbox game, has been released for the Vita.
- Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien has also zoomed onto Sony’s handheld today.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Sony has added more than a dozen games to their online store today and you can read all about them after the break. As usual, a detailed listing of this week’s new game add-ons (including Borderlands 2: How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Freedom Cry) can be found at the PlayStation Blog. New Releases: Terraria: Collector’s Edition
It ain’t The Smurfs 2, but we’re in for another week with only one new retail release.
This week, gamers can look forward to Terraria: Collector’s Edition, an “action-packed sandbox adventure,” for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Originally added to the PlayStation Store and XBLA in March, the Collector’s Edition of Terraria comes complete with a game download code (which requires an Internet connection) a 2GB USB Stick shaped like a pick-axe, an exclusive “Items Crafting Poster,” and a set of Velum Character Stickers.
We’re definitely in for some more variety next week.
XBLA Today: Terraria
Terraria took the PC gaming world by storm back in 2011 and now the action RPG finally comes to the Xbox Live Arcade. Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), it is the only addition to the XBLA this week:
Welcome to the world of Terraria! DIG, FIGHT, EXPLORE, BUILD! Nothing is impossible in the special edition version of this action-packed sandbox adventure! Over a dozen environments and hundreds of items to craft and enemies to defeat! The world is your canvas – make it your own.
BioShock Infinite, Army of Two 3, Tiger Woods 14, more added to PS Store
It’s another big week for the PlayStation Store as Sony adds the highly anticipated BioShock Infinite to their downloadable offerings. Other new additions this week include the same-day downloadable release of Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. Yup, it is definitely a big week for the PlayStation Store.
Sony wasn’t done as they also added Tales of Graces F and PlayStation Move Fitness to the PS3 Full Games section. The PSN section has also been expanded this week with the release of the puzzling A-Men, the sandbox adventure Terraria, and the off-road racer WRC 3: FIA World Rally Championship.
WRC 3 will also be downloadable for the Vita starting today, and it is joined by the award-winning adventure game Machinarium. Finally, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Iron Triangle attempts to scratch your strategy RPG itch from its new home in the PS2 Classics section.

Terraria announced for PSN, XBLA
Get ready to build yourself into the wee hours of the morning! 505 Games has announced it’s bringing the popular PC side-scrolling block-building game, Terraria, to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
In Terraria, you can collect a huge amount of items and materials to build a giant home base so you can protect yourself from the perils of the outside… as well as craft even more items. The massive world is full of monsters just ready to eat and/or provide sweet drops for you.
Terraria was first released in 2011 by creator and developer Andrew Sprinks’ studio, Re-logic. The game’s 1.6 million players have added much to the world, and hopefully console players will bring even more.
Tim Woodley, Head of Global Brand for 505 Games, said, “The block-building genre has taken the world by storm and Terraria has garnered a massive following through its increased focus on adventure and discovery. We’re looking forward to bringing an already hugely successful experience to a brand new console audience and we can’t wait for the existing Terraria fan base to experience all-new content”.
Sprinks is excited as well. “I can’t say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3!” he said. “To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It’s always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction! It’s been awesome working with 505 Games, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the additional features that they’ve been able to bring to this new edition of the game.”
Terraria will be available on the PSN and XBLA in early 2013.
