Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition unveiled
Hardcore Elder Scrolls fans are about to be $150 poorer – Bethesda just announced the limited collector’s edition of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Game director Todd Howard revealed it at QuakeCon. This super-limited edition includes:
- Alduin Statue: Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector’s only statue stands 12” tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modeled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game’s many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.
- ‘The Art of Skyrim’ Official Art Book: Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-color illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 9 3/8” x 12 1/8” coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments, and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game’s iconic visual style.
- ‘The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ DVD: This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, gameplay, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be available on November 11 for the for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
BioShock Infinite wins big, Vita edges out Wii U in E3 Game Critics Awards
The results are in for the Game Critics Awards’ Best of E3 2011. BioShock Infinite came away the clear winner, with a victory in every category it was nominated for, for a total of four wins. This comes at the expense of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, which tied with BioShock for most nominations, but came away with a big zero. Battlefield 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim managed to grab two awards a piece, and the PlayStation Vita knocks out the Nintendo’s Wii U to take best hardware.

Bethesda outlines and dates 2011 lineup: Brink, Hunted, Rage, Skyrim
Today Bethesda announced its biggest games for 2011, and it’s looking like a pretty solid lineup. Brink, the highly smooth First Person Shooter from Splash Damage blending single player, co-op, and multiplayer will be coming May 17th in the U.S. and May 20th in Europe; the fantasy action game Hunted will release June 1st in the U.S. and June 3rd in Europe; id Software’s highly anticipated Rage will finally land September 13th in the U.S. and September 16th in Europe; and finally, Bethesda Game Studios’ very own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be launching worldwide on the convenient 11/11/11. All of these titles will be releasing for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, with RAGE still coming to the Mac as well.
I’ve never been a fan of the publisher, but this is definitely a strong year for them. I’ve been following Rage for a long time, and Doom-meets-MotorStorm is something I simply can’t pass up.
