The Textorcist’s Launch Trailer is here (and so is a free demo)

Abandon all hope, ye who enter type here…

Headup and Morbidware have announced that The Textorcist is now available to download for the PC through Steam and GOG. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, which is a bullet hell/typing tutor hybrid set within a world overrun by demons, the developer has also made a free demo available through both online storefronts:

Get ready for an electrifying mix between a bullet game and a typing hell! Dodge bullets while typing exorcisms and jump into the adventure of Ray Bibbia, a private exorcist who’s going to face the threats of a demonic outbreak and deal with his sinful past at the same time! A city in decay, streets filled with thugs and only one man to stop it all. Groundbreaking gameplay, exorcists, demons, the Pope and tons of hardcore action-filled boss battles for the first type em up game ever realized.

A brand new Launch Trailer, which has been embedded above, also gives us our best look yet at some of The Textorcist’s gruesome bosses.

The Textorcist will be released on February 14

Headup and Morbidware have announced that The Textorcist will be available to download through Steam on February 14.

The Textorcist looks like your typical twin-stick shooter, but instead of wielding guns or melee weapons, players will be required to type out the necessary spells (one letter at a time) to banish demons from the Earthly plane as they dodge a relentless barrage of hellfire.

Your mission is to rid the world of every evil spirit and send them back to hell. You banish them by typing out the (un)holy passages from his exorcism book, down to the last letter.

Any spelling mistake you make will set you back; but to make things really interesting you also have to dodge your enemies’ relentless bullet barrage at the same time. Welcome to (Bullet) Hell! But obviously this is still not enough of a challenge for you, which is why later on in the game the texts will be in Latin, as is proper for such a (un)holy man of the church as Ray Bibbia.

Don’t worry, if all this sounds like too much of a challenge, a controller-based “Rhythm Mode” will also be included in The Textorcist. And in case you missed it, be sure to check out the game’s Announcement Trailer from back in November.

The Textorcist combines a typing game with an overhead bullet hell shooter

The power of AWESOME compels you to watch the first trailer for The Textorcist, a new game from Morbidware that combines an overhead bullet hell shooter with a typing game.

Players will take control of Priest Ray Bibbia, “certified exorcist and badass,” as he does battle with ten different demonic entities. To clean these spirits, Bibbia will need to scramble around the screen dodging their attacks while also typing out the necessary incantations one letter at a time. Also, some of the incantations are in Latin. Sanctus stercus!

The Textorcist will be released for the PC in the first half of 2019.
