Tom Clancy’s The Division Beta Impressions: Fear and Loathing in New York City
After watching Ubisoft’s E3 2015 playthrough last year, I started up the weekend-long beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division with some vague memories of a very traditional looking third-person shooter with an online mode designed to encourage uneasy alliances. Now that I have played The Division, I can confirm that it does indeed play like most other third-person shooters, and yes, it looks about as uninspiring as most of them, too. Fortunately, The Division’s hook, “The Dark Zone,” does occasionally deliver great, tense moments in which you’ll be wondering which member of your hastily-assembled team is going to try to kill everyone and make off with the loot. And who knows? Sometimes, it might even be you. (more…)
Ubisoft will host a Tom Clancy’s The Division Open Beta from February 18 – February 21
After the successful completion of last month’s Closed Beta, Ubisoft has announced plans to offer an Open Beta for Tom Clancy’s The Division beginning on Thursday, February 18 (for Xbox One owners) or Friday, February 19 (for PC and PS4 owners). Regardless of which platform you pledge allegiance to, the beta will close up shop on Sunday, February 21.
The Tom Clancy’s The Division Open Beta will include all of the content from the Closed Beta, as well as an all new story mission. Everyone who participates in the Open Beta will receive a special in-game reward that’ll be unlockable in the full game. The Open Beta is now available to pre-load on all three platforms, and you can check out the trailer embedded above to learn more about the game’s factions.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is a team-based shooter that takes place in New York City during the aftermath of a viral attack on Black Friday. It’ll be available for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 8.
PC requirements revealed for The Division, which Ubisoft considers “more than a port”
Ubisoft has revealed the minimum and recommended requirements for Tom Clancy’s The Division… do you think your PC can handle it? You can find the system specifications after the break, but don’t forget that Ubisoft will also launch a closed beta for The Division very soon. Opening on January 29, you can signup at Ubi.com now for a chance to play the multiplayer shooter early.
In addition to revealing the system specifications, Ubisoft also discussed the PC version of The Division in some depth at the UbiBlog. The first thing they want PC players to know is that The Division “more than a port” on Windows machines:
“The main goal during the development of the PC version of The Division was to give players the version of the game they wanted. We didn’t want to just port the console version for them, but to instead craft an experience that felt native to PC from the start. A key feature we particularly wanted to address was the navigation through the UI. If you have a mouse and a keyboard, the way you navigate is very different than the navigation with a controller.”
Tom Clancy’s The Division will be released on March 8. (more…)

Ubisoft @ E3 2015: The Division, Rainbow Six: Siege, AC: Syndicate, and a few big surprises
Ubisoft has announced their 2015 E3 Press Conference will focus on Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, and “a few big surprises.”
Obviously, we don’t know what those surprises will be yet, but we do know that the publisher’s E3 showcase will once again be hosted by Aisha Tyler. The Ubisoft Press Conference will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, June 15 at 5:45 PM (Eastern Time). Fans can tune in to a live broadcast at a variety of websites including Uplay.com, YouTube, and Twitch.
In case Ubisoft’s lineup is unfamiliar to you, here are a few more details straight from the publisher:
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate: Set in London during the height of the Industrial Revolution, players will step into the shoes of twin Master Assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye. Fighting to liberate London, Jacob and Evie help define the birth of organized crime in an adventure filled with action, intrigue and brutal combat.
Tom Clancy’s The Division: In this immersive online open-world action RPG, players will team up with other Division agents to reclaim New York City from the chaos of a deadly pandemic.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege: Inspired by the reality of counter terrorist operatives across the world, Rainbow Six Siege invites players to master the art of destruction. Intense close quarter confrontations, high lethality, tactics, team play, and tension are at the center of the experience.
If you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area during E3 week, Ubisoft also plans to let members of the public try out these three demos at their Uplay Lounge, which will be located at the SkySpace (the 71st floor of the Bank Tower) on Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17.
Tom Clancy’s The Division + “Unannounced AAA Title” will launch in early 2016
Tom Clancy’s The Division opens with a terrorist attack on Black Friday, but the game itself will definitely miss this year’s pre-Christmas shopping bonanza. That’s because Ubisoft has announced (via their latest Investor Presentation) the PC, PS4, and Xbox One game will be pushed back to early 2016. More specifically, the game will be released during the fourth quarter of Ubisoft’s 2016 fiscal year, which runs January 1, 2016 through March 31, 2016.
Antoine Emond, The Division’s Community Development Lead, delivered this message to fans on the game’s official website: “All of us at Massive, Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, and Ubisoft Annecy want to ensure the game not only meets our high expectations but also those of our fans and players alike. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and can’t wait to show you more next month at E3!”
In the same Investor Presentation, Ubisoft also revealed that a previously unannounced “AAA Title” will be released in early 2016. More details will surely be revealed during the publisher’s E3 Press Conference, which is scheduled for June 15.
Ubisoft @ E3 14: Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, The Division, The Crew, more
Ubisoft has announced their E3 2014 plans and it includes a lot of games we already knew about including Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry 4, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Crew, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. The megapublisher plans to announce a few additional titles during E3 Media Briefing, which will be held on Monday, June 9 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). Once again, Ubisoft’s presentation will be hosted by actress (and professional awesome person) Aisha Tyler and will be broadcast live on their YouTube Channel.
So what else will Ubisoft be announcing at this year’s E3 Expo? I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Blood Dragon 2 or the oft-rumored Assassin’s Creed: Comet, and you know a Watch Dogs sequel is in development somewhere within Ubisoft’s many development houses, but that probably won’t be an E3 2014 announcement.
You can find more information on Ubisoft’s E3 lineup after the break. (more…)
