New trailer reveals August 21 release date for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron hasn’t even been released yet, and it’s already done the impossible. Originally slated for a “Fall 2012” release, the High Moon Studios-developed game has now been pushed forward a second time. Tagged at the end of the truly epic trailer above (which stars Metroplex!) is the game’s new release date: August 21, 2012.
It’s only a week ahead of its previous August 28 release date, but with so many games getting pushed into 2013, I’ll take it.
“Autobots transform!” Original voice cast returns for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Activision has released the voice cast for their upcoming sequel, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, and fans of the original series are in for a treat. Topping the list are two fan favourites… Peter Cullen is returning as the sage voice of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, while Gregg Berger, the man behind the hulking Dinobot Grimlock, will be bringing many of his trademark soundbites to the video game. I can’t wait to hear him howl, “Me Grimlock no bozo! Me king!”
In addition to this, many of the actors from Transformers: War for Cybertron will be returning, including Naughty Dog veteran Nolan North as Brawl, Bruticus, and Cliffjumper. Troy Baker, soon to be heard in The Last of Us, returns as Jetfire, while also tackling the roles of Jazz and Kickback. Fred Tatasciore (Megatron, others), Steve Blum (Shockwave, others), and Isaac C. Singleton (Soundwave) have also benn welcomed back into the fray, the trio voicing most of the Decepticons.
You’ll be able to hear all their cybernetically enhanced vocal boxes when Transformers: Fall of Cybertron for the Xbox 260, PlayStation 3, and PC on August 28. Or, you can check out the announcement trailer above.
Get inside the mind of Grimlock in this Transformers: Fall of Cybertron trailer
“Me, Grimlock, no bozo. Me king!”
The second coolest Transformer ever, Grimlock, is going to play a big part in this August’s Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. The Dinobots made quite an impression on kids back in the day due to their butt-kicking prowess, and that’s definitely on display in the new game trailer above. Also, the High Moon Studios dev that’s narrating the action loves to say “space T-rex” and how can you not love that?
Oh, for the record, the coolest Transformer ever is Optimus Prime, with Soundwave rounding out the top three. These are official rankings people!
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 28.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron rolls out on August 28
Gamers won’t have to wait until the Fall for the High Moon-developed Transformers: Fall of Cybertron to roll into stores. The GameSpot-exclusive trailer above is more than meets the eye as it confirms an August 28 release date (which is still the Summer) for the PS3 and Xbox 360 game.
I think this good news deserves some music. Sing it with me… “You’ve got the touch! You’ve got the powahhhhhhhhhhh!”
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron toyline begins with Bruticus
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is set to roll out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 this Fall. And with the addition of Grimlock, it’s got plenty of gamers excited. But there can’t be a new Transformers game without some new Transformers toys. And with an announcement at this year’s American International Toy Fair, Hasbro hopes to get gamers excited about those too.
Over the weekend, the toymaker revealed Bruticus to the masses. For those not up on their Generation One lore, Bruticus is a combiner that merges Blast-Off, Brawl, Onslaught, Swindle, and Vortex into one super Transformer.
Each figure will be sold separately, and will be available in stores this Fall alongside the game. Hopefully that badass new version of Grimlock gets a toy version as well.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron timeline hints at future games in series
Activision has released a very cool timeline for their original Transformers games, War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. The timeline reveals that Fall of Cybertron will center on the creation of a Space Bridge and the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons as they travel to Earth in search of Energon.
But a mysterious fourth section, titled “The Journey,” shows that there is at least one untold tale in this version of the neverending war between the factions:
Did the Autobots and Decepticons fly directly to Earth? Or did they bounce from one corner of the galaxy to the another before meeting their destiny? These questions remain a mystery as they illustrate an unwritten chapter of the lore.
If that’s not confirmation that there’s another original Transformers game in the pipeline, I don’t know what is.

Spike TV VGAs: Transformers Fall of Cybertron trailer will make you cry
Activision has stolen a page from the Gears of War franchise with the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron trailer that debuted at last night’s Spike TV Video Game Awards. Combining a melancholic song with heartbreaking images of Cybertronian war, you’ll cry like a baby at the death of a bunch of robots all over again.
That’s right, again. If you’re between the ages of 30 and 35, you certainly sobbed over Optimus Prime’s death in Transformers: The Movie. It’s OK. You can admit it. We all cried. But we also cheered when Grimlock kicked ass and this trailer gives us a dose of that too.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will roll out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Fall 2012.
Grimlock rampages through Transformers: Fall of Cybertron teaser
Like most six year olds, Optimus Prime was my favorite Transformer. But Grimlock was my favorite toy. The Dinobot leader was at the center of so many of my kitchen table battles that he actually shattered after one nasty fight versus Abominus.
So seeing the first Transformers: Fall of Cybertron teaser, which stars a monstrous-looking Grimlock, is a particularly effective piece of marketing.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is in development at High Moon Studios and is currently on track for a 2012 release.
