Watch Dogs requires 64-bit OS on PC

watchdogs-header

After Watch Dogs made its debut at E3 2012, there were more than a few whispers online that the game looked “next generation.” Ubisoft was quitck to put down these rumors and assured gamers that Watch Dogs would be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U. However, earlier this year, Watch Dogs was indeed revealed to be in development for the PS4 and Xbox One.

ubisoftlogo

After a big showing at last weekend’s Gamescom, Ubisoft is gearing up for another big demonstration of their upcoming lineup at this weekend’s PAX Prime. The publisher plans to show four games at their booth with an additional pair (The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot and Might & Magic: Duel of Champions) in the LAN Area.

Ubisoft’s booth (#612) will include demo stations for The Crew, and Rayman Legends. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs will also be on hand, though both will be hands-off only.

Ubisoft’s booth will include a host of other activities such as a picture station with Black Flag’s pirate assassin, Edward Kenway. Black Flag fans will also be able to score an inflatable cutlass sword while Watch Dogs watchers can collect a logo-branded lanyard.

Ubisoft’s only playable next-generation game at PAX Prime is the “massive open world action-driving game” The Crew. In addition to a hands-on demo, fans will be able to drive away with an exclusive keychain.

PAX Prime 2013 will take place this weekend, August 30 through September 2, in Seattle. I hope you’ve already got your tickets, because they’ve been sold out for months.

Ubisoft plans to bring a brand new next-gen IP to Gamescom 2013

ubisoftlogo

Ubisoft plans to make a big splash at this year’s Gamescom expo, which kicks off on August 21 in Cologne, Germany. The publisher will have nine games playable on the show floor (including Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Rayman Legends, Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, The Crew, and more). They also plan to debut a “new next-gen IP currently in development.”

“This year’s Gamescom is particularly exciting because it’s the first time players can really get their hands on the next-gen consoles and games they have been waiting for,” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO, Ubisoft. “Gamescom is a unique opportunity for us to connect face-to-face with our fans and listen to their feedback, and we think they’ll love what we’re bringing to this year’s show.”

A complete rundown of Ubisoft’s Gamescom lineup can be found after the break. (more…)

TitanFall wins “Best of Show” at E3 2013 Game Critics Awards

titanfall-header

Respawn’s TitanFall is a big winner in this year’s E3 2013 Game Critics Awards. The mech shooter, which will be available for the PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in Spring 2014, won all six awards it was nominated for, including the coveted “Best of Show” award.

TitanFall was the only game to win in multiple categories this year, but Watch Dogs (“Best Action/Adventure Game”), Tearaway (“Best Handheld/Mobile Game”), The Elder Scrolls Online (“Best Role Playing Game”), and a few others split the nine remaining awards. And a virtual high five to the developers at Supergiant Games for Transistor, which was selected as the “Best Downloadable Game.” We liked it quite a bit at PAX East 2013 too.

You can find the complete list of selections from this year’s Game Critics Awards after the break. (more…)

TitanFall, Destiny, Watch Dogs lead all nominees in Best of E3 2013 awards

e3expologoThe 30 publications that form the Game Critics Awards judging panel have announced this year’s nominees for the Best of E3 2013. This year, Respawn’s TitanFall lead the way with six nominations. Bungie’s Destiny and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs were close behind with five nominations apiece.

All three games were selected to be part of the “Best in Show” alongside new hardware from Sony (the PlayStation 4) and Oculus VR (the Oculus Rift HD). That has to sting for Microsoft and the continued debacle that is their Xbox One announcement. Though the Xbox One did get a nod in the “Best Hardware” category. I have a feeling it’s not going to win.

A complete list of all the nominees can be found after the break. The winners will be announced on July 2. (more…)

Watch “Exposed,” the Watch Dogs E3 2013 trailer, right here

It seems like not a month goes by without the release a new trailer for Watch Dogs. And with the E3 Expo just a few hours away, Ubisoft has released a “Exposed,” an all-CGI affair that definitely qualifies as ridiculously awesome.

This time, Aiden Pearce uses his hacking skills to infiltrate a human trafficking ring and exacts some Liam Neeson-style vengeance on the “auctioneer” and his accomplices.

Trust me, if you do nothing else today, you want to take three minutes and 30 seconds out of your day to check it out.
