Ubisoft plans to announce multiple next-gen games at E3 2013
Ubisoft’s Fall 2013 lineup will be well represented at this year’s E3 Expo as the publisher plans to display five titles at the gaming showcase, as well as multiple unannounced next-generation games:
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- Rayman Legends
- South Park: The Stick of Truth
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist
- Watch Dogs
Ubisoft’s E3 Press Conference will take place on Monday, June 10 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time). The company will post a livestream of the presentation on YouTube for everyone who can’t attend the E3 Expo. Updates from the show floor will also be posted on Ubisoft’s Facebook page, Twitter feed, and official blog during E3 week.
“This is a pivotal moment for the video game industry, and E3 is the opportunity for us to share our vision for the future,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO. “We have many incredible games in development, and we’re especially excited to share more on our next-gen titles, which will deliver more connected, immersive and interactive experiences to our fans.”
So, any guesses on what Ubisoft’s unannounced next-gen games will be?
Pre-order bonuses for Watch Dogs announced
Watch Dogs will be available on November 19 for the PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 with a PS4 version scheduled for release at the system’s launch. The game is also coming to the Xbox 720/Durango, but Ubisoft continues to stubbornly refer to it as “other next generation consoles” in their press releases. Clearly, you have plenty of options to purchase Watch Dogs this Fall.
To complicate your choice a little bit more, Ubisoft announced a pair of retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses for Watch Dogs today:
GameStop – Palace Pack: The Palace Pack includes a single player mission, an investigation bonus, and ATM hack boost. The investigation bonus will unlock exclusive investigation opportunities inside of the network and the ATM hack boost will increase cash rewards when hacking into bank accounts. In addition to the single player Palace Pack mission, players who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive poster designed by famed comic-book artist, Alex Ross – while supplies last.
Amazon.com – Signature Shot Pack: The Signature Shot Pack comes with an exclusive single player mission that once completed, unlocks both a unique Biometric Assault Rifle and the Black Viceroy’s Outfit. The biometrics weapon has been smuggled into Chicago for the captain of the Black Viceroy’s gang. The weapon only works for the first person to imprint their palm on the handle. Players will need to breach a stronghold, steal the package and be the first to imprint the weapon and get out of The Wards alive.
Watch Dogs developers talk about working with the PS4
Watch Dogs Senior Producer Dominic Guay and Creative Director Jonathan Morin are the stars of the first episode of “Conversations With Creators,” a new PlayStation Blog feature that will delve into the inner workings of developers working with the PS4.
Guay praised the system’s power over and over again. He also strongly hinted that the best version of Watch Dogs would be on the PS4, saying it allows them to add in “More details [and] more immersion” while also “[increasing] the density of things.” But don’t expect anything too different On the PS4 as Guay also said, “It’s the same game experience, but basically magnified on the PlayStation 4.”
Guay also mentioned, once again, that Watch Dogs will include some kind of app-based multiplayer. It’s unknown if this feature is exclusive to the PS4, but the idea is that players will be able to enter the “game world” of another player from their smartphone or tablet and do… something. It’s still very vague, but it sounds interesting, right?
Ubisoft spies a November 19 release date for Watch Dogs; Xbox 720 version confirmed
The secret is out… Ubisoft has announced that Watch Dogs will be released on November 19. On that date, the game will be available for the PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. A PS4 version is in the works and will be released at the next-generation console’s launch. Finally, Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs is also coming to “other next generation consoles,” which can only refer to an Xbox 720/Durango version of the game.
Unless Nintendo has got a secret next-next-generation console in the works.
Ubisoft is also putting your spy skills to the test with the latest Watch Dogs trailer, which is posted above. Somewhere in that cinematic thrill ride is supposed to be some new “gameplay” footage. Can you find it? Because I can’t.
Watch Dogs PAX East Impressions: Hack the Planet, or Maybe Just Chicago
Ubisoft didn’t have Watch Dogs playable on the show floor at PAX East, but the game still had an enormous presence. The publisher showed a special behind-closed-doors presentation of the game, which included a special Watch Dogs lanyard as a giveaway (and if you were wearing it on the show floor, you may have gotten a surprise visit from a Frag Doll with a free t-shirt). I would have much preferred being able to play the game myself, but what I saw on the screen was a somewhat impressive, if disappointingly short, display of the capabilities of main character Aiden Pearce. The PAXpocalypse List: The Best of PAX East 2013
We don’t have the PAX pox, but what if the entire convention center was put under quarantine because of some mystery illness? What would you do? What would you see? We’d endure the PAXpocalypse by spending all of our time with the 13 games (nine playable, three developer-guided demos, and one board game) below. Though it would have to be after pushing the hordes of undead off our doorstep. Because any pox affecting PAXgoers would almost certainly have to lead to a zombie uprising. (more…)
