All Articles: We Are Doomed
We Are Doomed will be released for PS4 and Xbox One in April
Mobeen Fikree develops games under the nom de game Vertex Pop and he has announced that his first PS4 and Xbox One game, We Are Doomed, will be released in April.
We Are Doomed is a twin-stick shooter that was originally released for the PC last year. To celebrate the pending console launch, Fikree has also unveiled a new trailer for We Are Doomed, which has been embedded above.
We Are Doomed coming to PS4, Vita in 2015
The hyper intense and visually stunning We Are Doomed will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Vita in 2015, according to developer Vertex Pop’s post on the PlayStation Blog. Vertex Pop consists of a single talented Canadian named Mobeen Fikree. His gorgeous twin-stick shooter was featured in our PAX Prime PAXpocalypse list last year, and we also saw it at PAX East 2014. Since then, I’ve played it a lot on PC, but I’m very excited to see what Fikree has done to improve it for Sony machines.
On that note, Fikree will be at PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas on December 6th and 7th, so if you’re going to be there, you should swing by and give the game a go. You can also tide yourself over with the recently released PC and/or Mac version, which costs just $4.00.
We Are Doomed is coming to the PS4 in early 2015. The Vita version will be coming later, because he’s “just one person,” and can you cut him slack? I guess I can for now, but boy am I stoked to see it on the Vita.
Seen at PAX East 2014: We Are Doomed
Back at PAX Prime 2013, I took a side trip to the Seattle Indies Expo, which was held the same weekend, and it was full of some great indie games. As I was stumbling around, excited to be in a more low-key environment, I came upon a bright, neon-colored game, manned by two gentlemen. One of them handed me a controller, and the other started to pitch the game to me. But before he could get very far, I discovered my laser, and the look on my face and the noise that escaped me indicated that I got it. The man pitching the game was Mobeen Fikree, the madman behind We Are Doomed. After playing it for the rest of the night, I plastered the screen with a “PAXpocalypse” tag, because despite the fact that he wasn’t actually on the show floor, Fikree’s game was, by far, one of the best games I played that entire weekend. The PAXpocalypse List: The Best of PAX Prime 2013
This year’s PAX Prime was one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. And even with four days, I still didn’t get a chance to play everything – or even see everything. Lines were long, crowds were huge, and once I got started in on a good game, I wanted to play it as much as I could. We were originally only going to award ten games, but by Monday, we couldn’t narrow it down, so we ended up adding in two more. Here is the PAXpocalypse List for PAX Prime 2013 – the twelve games we’d love to be stranded with if this little convention in Seattle was the end of the world. And they’re in alphabetical order… because that’s how it’s done when you can’t pick favorites. (more…)
