New Retail Releases: Nioh, Rainbow Six Siege Year 2 Gold Edition, WWE 2K17 for PC
Three new games fill out this week’s batch of new retail releases, though only one of them can reasonably be called “new.”
Nioh is a PS4 exclusive that transports its audience to a “fantastical and dark vision of 16th century Japan.” Developed by Team Ninja, players will battle skilled samurai, vile beasts, and demons which are threatening to tear the country apart during the Warring States period.
Also available this week is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege – Year 2 Gold Edition from Ubisoft. The PS4 and Xbox One re-release comprised of the original game and the Year 2 Pass, which includes access to all of the game’s upcoming Year 2 content. However, if you want to add the Year 1 Pass to the team-based shooter, you’ll need to purchase it separately.
Finally this week, 2K Games will bring WWE 2K17 to the PC for the first time. WWE 2K17 features an expanded MyCareer Mode, as well as the largest roster of wrestlers ever included in a WWE game.
That’s it for now, but we’ll back later this week with a look at the latest digital additions to the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, and Nintendo eShop.
WWE 2K17 will be released for the PC on February 7
2K Games has announced they’ll bring their newest wrestling sim, WWE 2K17, to the PC on February 7. Players interested in taking their turn in the squared circle will be able to pick it up in two different configurations… a Standard Edition for $49.99 or a Digital Deluxe Edition for $74.99.
The Standard Edition will come packaged with the base game and the Goldberg Pack, which adds two more Arenas and two different versions of the wrestler (“WCW Goldberg” and “WWE Goldberg”) to WWE 2K17. The base game and the Goldberg Pack are also included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, but its higher price also gives players access to the Season Pass content…

In addition to the base game, the WWE 2K17 PC Digital Deluxe includes over 20 characters, 50 new moves, and access to loads of additional content:
- WWE 2K17 MyPlayer Kick Start

- Accelerator
- Legends Pack
- New Moves Pack
- Future Stars Pack
- Hall of Fame Showcase
Steam users who purchase WWE 2K17 before launch will receive a 10% discount on the Standard Edition or a 15% discount on the Digital Deluxe Edition.
EA, 2K dominate October’s best-selling games list as Battlefield 1, Mafa III lead the way
More games get released in October than any other month (though November is probably close), so it shouldn’t be surprising that megapublishers like Electronic Arts and 2K Games nearly ran the table with the NPD Group’s monthly best-sellers report.
EA’s Battlefield 1 took the top spot, and the publisher placed three other games in the top ten including FIFA 17 (#4), Titanfall 2 (#9), and Madden NFL 17 (#10). 2K Games had an equally strong month, thanks to Mafia III making gamers an offer they couldn’t refuse (and the #2 spot on the list). It was followed by NBA 2K17 (#5), WWE 2K17 (#7), and Civilization VI (#8).
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, NPD’s Sam Naji said that overall industry revenues were up 6% in October 2016, though hardware and accessories aren’t selling as well as they did a year ago.
The full Top 10 from October 2016 can be found after the break. (more…)
